The Fundamentals of Homeopathy
Homeopathy is a form of alternative healing that originated in the 18th century. At this time, the common treatments for healing people included methods like blood letting and even dangerous combinations of medicines derived from snakes and other venomous creatures. Medical science was hardly curing the ailments of people and many were worse off when they went to the doctor than before.
Homeopathy was discovered by Samuel Hahnemann who is considered to be the father of homeopathy. Hahnemann discovered that while testing a bark that was a cure for malaria, he experienced some of the early symptoms of malaria. He devised a theory that if you gave a healthy person the medication for the disease, they would develop the disease.
He also felt that, using the law of similarities, if you gave an ailing person the actual disease that they were fighting, diluted down by the use of sugar and water several times, they would get well. Hahnemann soon began practicing this theory on people and found it to be successful. Few people were dying in Homeopathy than they were in regular medicine. This was due to the fact that medical doctors were giving patients medications that did more harm than good because they did not know how to cure them.
Today, Homeopathy is not well regarded in the medical community as modern science has, supposedly, come a long way since the 18th century when Homeopathy clinics were opened in Europe and the United States. However, despite the fact that medical science has come a long way and has been able to cure some diseases, they are not able to cure all diseases. There are still things that doctors do not know about cures for disease. Cancer, for example, is a mystery to doctors who prescribe chemotherapy drugs for patients that make them very ill. In some cases, these drugs can kill a patient. In a few cases, the patient is cured. However, chemotherapy drugs are not a sure thing, unlike penicillin.
Given that information, it is very possible that doctors today are mirroring the doctors of the 18th century and giving patients drugs that may do them more harm than good, many people are looking to alternative medicine to cure a variety of different ailments. Unlike Eastern medicines that rely on natural substances for cures, Homeopathy is a scientifically studied medicine that treats the entire well being of a person instead of just the disease.
Medical science today treats the disease itself instead of the entire person. Theories about the life force of a person are dismissed by those in the medical community. However, Homeopathy believes that when the life force is disturbed, the disease symptoms manifest. Homeopathy believes in treating the entire body instead of the disease.
Diseases that cannot be cured by homeopathy are usually regarded as a deep disturbance of the vital force in life and it is concluded that nothing could cure them. Although traditional medicines may cure a certain disease, the homeopath believes that the disease merely manifests itself in other ways.
The fundamentals of homeopathy has been used successfully in some cases where traditional medicine has failed. It is considered an alternative medicine and is only used sporadically in the United States and Europe. I India, however, it is more highly regarded as traditional medicine.
Many theories and cures that are related to Homeopathy medicine have not been tested through the scientific community that usually only tests cures created by modern medicine.
